Jean-Claude BERTRAND was born in France, in 1943. He works in Cannes, on the French Riviera.
He studied at the « Famous Photographers School » where the most eminent teachers were Irving Penn, Philippe Halsman and Richard Avedon.
His photography is not just based on technique but mostly on his life experience and his own perception of life itself.
The most important esthetic functions for him are not just the lighting, but more so, the composition followed by the realization of the images he has in his mind.
In his creations on printed paper that you are about to discover, the objects and other accessories are only part of the tools he is using to enhance the sensuality of the models he is photographing.
Jean-Claude BERTRAND uses eroticism as a symbol, a strong one, which must correspond to a very precise comportment: eroticism as a passion for life…
For that, he adopted Helmut Newton's saying: « seduction, as a tiny thread separating eroticism from pornography of images. It's the frontier between poverty and the true wealth.»
Women ! He loves them and he takes plenty of photographs of them, their curves and shapes inspire him and allows his spirit to escape.
Although his artistic passion is essentially geared towards portraits and nude, he also enjoys taking pictures of the street life’s action while he travels.
